Darcy Scott is a singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from the eastern edge of Newfoundland. His passion for music started at an early age and youth open mics provided a chance to collaborate with other musicians - something he enjoys as much as writing and performing. Already a skilled percussionist at age 10, these experiences encouraged him to add piano, bass, guitar and songwriting to his artistic resume.

Darcy has been writing and performing original material since 2019 and continually seeks opportunities to work with other industry leaders to hone his songwriting skills. During the winter of 2019, he debuted his first song, “Happy Place,” in the CBC Searchlight Competition. This uplifting and catchy tune caught the ear of the Canadian public and landed in the Top 100 from among thousands of entries. That year also saw him win the Newfound Talent Contest at the Newfoundland and Labrador Folk Festival where he had the privilege to perform another original, “Hold On,” to an enthusiastic Main Stage audience. His 2020 entry into CBC Searchlight saw Darcy in the Top 100 again with another original, “Canadian Folk Singer.” Darcy was invited to perform that single at that year’s MusicNL Industry Awards where he garnered positive peer reviews.

Second only to his musicianship, Darcy’s songwriting style has been called “soulful” and “beyond his years.” He gains inspiration from other singer-songwriters and uses this inspiration to tell his own stories. Darcy’s latest collaboration was during the Bell Media Songwriting Challenge where he and his co-writers worked under the guidance of Chris Kirby to create, “1000 Words.” This song also made the top 100 in CBC’s Searchlight competition as 1 of the 50 producers picks.
